I need to modify my front cover for a gear drive. What is the best tig welding rod to use? Thanks

Either 4043 or 5356 will work fine...4043 flows a little easier, 5356 has more deoxidizers for a cleaner weld and also has a little higher tensile strength. Just general info - 5356 is normally used if the part will be anodized afterwards for better color matching.
