Could someone please explain step by step how to wet sand a painted part. My hood was recently painted but the painter left a spot that he wants to fix later after the paint dries a little more. I might try it myself since it's hard to get up with him sometimes. I have a funky series of indentions, in an area the size of a 50 cent piece just "this side" of the hood bulge standing at the front of the car(picture a miniature ruffled potato chip with smaller ridges). I was thinking of slow running water and 2000 grit to start. If that doesn't work might drop down to 1500 then go back to 2000. Then what should I use to remove the marks left by the 2000?

1500, 2000, 3M Fine cut rubbing compound.

Just get a little spray bottle, or a bowl of water to dip your sandpaper/rinse it with.

And if it hasent been polished and waxed yet, do that when yer done.
