I have just seen a news report about stores springing up across the country for people to bring their items for sale to be auctioned on ebay....what a rip....they {at least the ones in this report}are charging 23 percent of what the item brings and then charge more for the shipping! sound like a qwik cash paycheck scheme store......

There are a couple of private places around here that do it, You bring them the item, they list it , they ship it ,You do nothing but drop it off, and they take a cut (not sure how much) of what it sells for. Ill just do it myself and keep my money, but it may be eaiser for some people to just drop it off.

That is why they are in buisness..

Do you know what that Mark up is when you go to McDonalds? maybe 95% Do you complain to them????

Stop bitching about how much profit people make in thier buisness. 23 % is not that much when you have to put up with all the bull crap ebay buyers can give you.

I've seriously considered starting one of those businesses myself. I already sell cars on eBay for people who don't have the time or the inclination to deal w/eBay on their own. Makes me some good $$ for my street rod project!

This is capitalism at it's finest!

doesn't sound like something an average person would go to, sounds more like a fence to me.

one of th efirst ones in the country is around here. I think its a great idea. Not everyone is computer savvy or may be afraid of online auctions. They take the guesswork out and take care of the ad, shipping and taking the $$ etc. Its a fantastic idea. Im just sorry that i did not think of it first. Its the kind of business this country was built on in fact. good old American 'fill the need' business.

lilsixsteve you need to calm down and not jump the gun on me...I was just making a comment and not bitching about anything.let these stores come and go as I am sure they will.I just dont believe they will catch on as hopefully people will see them for what they are. I buy and sell on ebay and and have never put up or had any bullcrap ....with the ebay experience.yes it is the american way and i am all for it;) you all have a nice day.

A friend of mine is getting close to using a service like this. He's moving and has a bunch of stuff he wants to ditch, he has very little extra time, and what time he has is worth a lot.

He will gladly pay the % to get rid of his excess stuff without having to organize a garage sale or set up a whole crap load of ebay auctions, box everything up, etc... His time just isn't worth that hassle.

John
