I did a search and came up dry on this one so I Just want to see what everyone thinks about these :)
Went to the track last night and ran 12.39 @ 110 (Best run of night) and had to pedal at about 80-100 foot because I blew the tires off. it hooked and went that time all other passed were a waist due to the tires going away. Car hooked out of the hole went 1.89 60 foot time then like I said above it just let go :( Car was on an 11.??? Something run if the tire stayed hooked :(

My buddy says these are the cheap way to hook but they need to be welded in to work right. Dont care much about that so if I can just get a little feedback from you guys that would be very cool :)

I trust members more since we all have the same cars :) :D

I used them on one of my cars for a few years with no problems. But, they are hard on the mounting points since they use solid bushings. They also don't have to be welded. The IC plate comes with some grade 9 hardware to bolt it to the rear end mounting point. HTH

The work real well. I removed mine because the solid bushings make a ton of unpleasent noise. I replaced them with UMI tubular lowers. My SSM bars are for sale for $100 shipped if youre interested in a pair. Like I said, they work well and really plant the tires, but they make your car sound like the trunk is full of bowling balls.

Ditto. I used them for few years on '70 Olds 442 (similar frame) & were an improvement over stock or air bag; were not welded in. I seem remember that had added benefit of retaining the rear sway bar. Then replaced them with adjustable tubular uppers/lowers & works even much better (although can't use sway bar).
Worth the buy especially if can get 2nd hand & bushings in good shape...
Mygrain's offer probably the right call.
G'luck....Ray

Can you provide any information regarding your setup? For example, what kind of tire are you using? Is the front swaybar taken out? What kind of shocks, F&R? I went quite awhile with boxed OEM control arms, poly bushings everywhere, no front swaybar, airbags, slicks, and regular ol' oil shocks in back and cut 1.5X 60-foot times on a regular basis without the unloading problem you describe. Launches were at 12 psi or close to it.

My set up now is one air bag in the right spring with 6-10 PSI Boxed factory Upper and lower control arms though I think they have Rubber bushings in them.
Pinion snubber and 275 50 15 Nitto Drags
Planning to got to the 275 50 15 M/T Drag Radials next and then maybe another change or 2.

It just seems either not to hook at all or hook then unload and spin hard!
If this thing could hook it should be in the Mid 11's no problem and thats with no stall and very few mods! I am super happy just need to sort the traction issues :D

I'll bet you have the formula with the MT's. As you know, each 10th is a whole lotta work, & should only do one thing at a time, & I'll bet a fresh set of the new MT's will have ya kissing 11's.
Is it a regular driver? It's the coolest thing having these fairly nice cars, a/c & power, etc. that are that quick. I'll bet most of your buddy's cars that are as quick are beater chebbys.
G'night....Ray

Nope they are very very envious!!!!! LAMO
I have maybe 11,000 in the car total since purchased in June and I can honestly say that it I drive it every day as long as its nice out :)
This was the second trip to the track and I had the same problems last time when the tires were almost new so I played with the Air bag presure and nothing.

I am leaning toward the SSM lift bars since I know they help, Noise is not an issue for me I am running a 3" Single shot ATR system with a Dump at the axle :D, and the M/T tires I should be on my way. Plus I get 18-20 MPH on the street with Razors alky kit I am running pump 93 oct!!
Just awsome!!!

You may also want to look into BMR and Wolfe.
The BMR allows stock sway bar retention.
The Wolfe requires a Weld In Bar.

Hay Thunderace,
do you produce Turbo6, GNX, etc. stickers that can be placed on top of the Pontiac medallion for the 16" GTA wheels?
I'm changing over to 16" GTA wheels & have centercaps, but need GN style medallion to replace the Pontiac one. Give me a PM & describe if so. Thanks.

I run ssm plus air bags no problems to report also ran ssm on my 80 malibu supercharged 468 .no problems there either .

Thunderace,
I've got a pair of Southside Machine bars in my loft that I took off my car about 10 years ago. I removed them after I tore the lower right hand side mouting brkt off the frame for the second time. They hook good but are very hard on everything else.. metal bushings make lots of noise. Make me a reasonable offer and they are yours if you want them.
P.S. I went to the "run what you brung" night and ran 12.70s on 93 octane, M/T drag radials, (1.70's short times) street chip w/low timing and 17 lbs of boost. I'm pretty sure it will run in the mid 11's with a race tune up.
Regards,
Larry

I have a set that I will eventually put on my car. A friend had them on his car and it started to crack the mounting point on the frame. We made some brackets out of steel and welded them to the frame. There should be no way for the mounting points to break now. I plan to do this to my car too before I put them on.

The above was with the South sides or another set up??

Thanks for all the info I am thinking we will be duin some welding to the mounts so there stronger and dont break :D

If someone is going to be at the GM event this weekend and wants to sell a set let me know and Ill bring cash :) I am also hoping VP fuels is there so I can get some meth to :)
