I switched all my trim from chrome to black by scotch-briteing, painting it w/ U-pol acid etch paint, then SEM trim black. Seems to be holding up pretty good.
I used the trim black but noticed it grayed a little on some of the metal parts (windshield trim..) I ended up using some rustoleum "satin" black...looks better than SEM though not oem original...it's blacker.
I use rustoleum also. If you have spray equipment you can buy a qt of satin black for about $7 a qt. at Walmart or Kmart. Thin it out with some enamel reducer and spray on 3 or 4 wet coats. It's a lot cheaper than using SEM. I use Sem on my upholstery and vinyl parts. It's way too expensive just to shoot on metal trim. Your talkin' $25 or $30 a qt. and it comes reduced. I need to get another qt. and makes me procrastinate. I hate bending over.
