Trying to get some opinions on a good commuter car that gets good fuel mileage but still has power. I was thinking the WRX would be a good one, also considering another TB as a commuter. And how far do you guys commute.

The only reason I am/will move to Florida,,So I can drive my T ,all day and everyday............may sleep in it to....

I've got a 1996 Pontaic Sunfire. 2.2, 5-speed manual.
29mpg half city, half highway
35mpg highway

'97 Cavalier. Same motor and gas mileage as DCVING 6's sunfire. My Cav. has over 160K on it and still runs great. It's not fast by any means, but has great low end torque considering it's a 4 banger which makes it nice in traffic.

I drive the Hemi Ram 13 miles each way, that is 2 gallons of gas.

98 F&%d ZX-2 Escort. Peppy enough to get in and out of traffic and I'm gettn' about 25mpg driving like a normal human..

90 Olds Ciera XC .. 3300 Buick powered.. 31 MPG on the highway, 19 around town(with a light foot) with 120k and reliable as a rock.. PERFECT car.. best car I have ever owned. Let see.... alternator, tires, oil are the ONLY things that have been replaced.. Oh and I just replaced the hoses and water pump (tho all 3 were perfect and did not need to be changed)..

1986 GN running 87 gas w/alky. 20-24 mpg (Canadian gallon) 50 miles per day min.

Last summer got 31.5 on a highway run on vacation. Sweeeet :D

1993 Sentra B13 body 45+ MPG

Yes I will be driving it to BG on Saturday. Best MPG was last week, I achived a propane induced 45MPG city/highway. I think that number will be much higher when it's all highway doing a little over the speed limit. I will post new MPG info on Sunday night. All around it's a great car: paid for, every junk yard has a least two of them, many people just give the engines away (to make room for the nissan SR20) and I have only had minor problems with it 125K so far:D

A camry with 200,000 miles on it. 30 mpg.

Several months ago I sold my Honda Prelude. it was my daily driver for about 10 years. I had 340, 000 on it and it still ran great.

'99 Century - rebuilt total that had 36k on it when I got it. It's a great car for basic transportation. 3.1L is decently peppy, gets good gas milage and is a decent sized car. They topped the list of cars with the worst resale value so they can be had dirt cheap. Even the base "Custom" models are nicely equipped.

I drive my '02 Z06 about 2 out of every 3 weeks, and dirve the '87 Turbo Regal the remaining week. I drive 25 miles each way, and try and work only 3 to 4 days a week. The Z06 gets 18.9 mpg on the average, and the Turbo Regal gets 17.5 average. Unfortunately, the Honda CBR1100XX is buried behind the other 2 so I can't get it out and shoe it to work every 3rd week like I should.

Either my 02 Taurus, getting about 23 mpg city/highway mix or my 91 Accord 5sp, 160,000 + miles. Still runs very well and gets around 30 mpg. I do drive the GN quite a bit as a daily driver, although it's had some "health" issues lately.

1996 Buick LeSabre, 3800 Series 2.
4 doors and a soft top.
The grand-ma mobile has put many a Civic to shame!

1997 F150, 5.4 V-8, Lariat. Even though it's a Ford, I've never had any trouble with it. Only downside is with $2.00 Gal gas, it's costing me about 55.00 to fill up every week.

My 96 Astro.
Its the only one that runs.....lol!

Im gettting about 18mpg, it might get 20 once I get the tune up done. Which, isn't too bad for a full time AWD SUV. Im lucky, this part of NY has a lot of the lowest gas prices. A few stations are still under $2/gal for regular.
I drive 60 miles a day to work, 5 days a week. :( At least its 99% Interstate at 65+mph.
Thats ok though, my dad at the moment is driving 80 miles round trip in his 91 Roadmaster, which gets about the same mpg as me.

Hopefully I will have the Suzuki GS running again soon. I might just take that to work on nice days if I can find a set of cargo bags for it.

i drive an '02 wrx 5spd everyday. love it.

i hear frank loves the wrx ;) - we should start a new thread about how great it is.

Usually my Gixxer...385 lbs and 135 hp! Just put a full stainless M4 system and a Power Commander 2! Screams now!!

I've been driving my Chevelle daily for the past 4 months. It gets 5-8 mpg
