I've been driving my Chevelle daily for the past 4 months. It gets 5-8 mpg

LMAO! I can relate to that! I just drove the 409/425 hp dual quad Impala SS to take pictures at a nearby lake and it cost me $10 just to get there and back!

I have a 2004 Mini Cooper S with a supercharged 4 cylinder, 6 speed, and all the creature comforts including leather and a bazillion airbags, and it's the most fun little car I've EVER driven, and that's saying something given I'm a die hard muscle car guy. This thing is a street legal go kart!

BTW, the Mini is for sale, of course. :D

oh no! Let me get my bag o rice here Bren! LOLOL

Good Lord...that's bad MPG. Here I have a 2003 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab 4x4 Duramax/Allison...24 MPG hwy and 19 MPG city unless I'm in the gas or hauling something. That's at $1.75-$1.79 a gallon at today's prices. I got 12.9 MPG (with no headwind) pulling a 12,000lb. high-profile 5th wheel. Total package was @ 18,500 - 19,000 Lbs.

1989 Volvo 760 Turbo Intercooler. Pretty peppy, decent gas mileage (about 22mpg) and the most comfortable seats I have ever sat in.

That's my daily beater..
:D

My dakota gets about 13-14. The saddest part about that is the regal can get almost twice far on the same amout of gas. I really do need a truck though.

13 mpg is city.
17 mpg 70-75 highway.
14 mpg 85 highway.
Both highway trips were 4.5 hr drives to Vegas with some A/C.

Slow as anything, but 93 Civic averages 40 mpg mixed driving. 189 K miles so far. I have driven 180 miles this week so far, & still have way over half a tank.

98 Olds Aurora -
One of the nicest cars I have ever driven...

A WRX rides to crappy for a DD IMO. It beats you to death - but then again, I'm getting old and a little soft in the a s s

04 Trailblazer 4x4 that gets not quite 17 mpg. Scared to take the buick out since the powermaster took a dump. Best guess on the 340 road runner is 13 and that's leaning the carb out as far as I dare.

The GN rarely sees the light of day unless it's a clear blue and 22 Saturday. My daily driver is an '02 Audi A4 Quattro 1.8T , sometimes I take the wife's '98 Isuzu Rodeo LS, or if it's an exceptionally day and I know I won't be at work for long I take the '97 Ninja ZX-9R. More than likely, by the end of next week we'll have a 2001 Lexus for the wife (I think she just wants it out of spite).

Just sold my 91 Dodge Grand Caravan LE after turning over 250,000. Must have sold it to cheap as it sold to the first person to see if for sale the first morning I put the signs in it. It had the 3.3 and would normally get a little over 20mpg driving a little hard. A couple years ago it cost me $300 on some minor head work and $900 on a complete trans rebuild. Otherwise it was only wear and tear stuff.

I am wondering if I am going to regret selling it as now I have as my drivers a 96,000 mile GN and coming together is a 509ci Cadillac powered Cutlass. The GN normally gets just under 20mpg and the Cutty scares me to think about as they both swallow premium. I might have to borrow my wifes 98 Grand Caravan when I need some mileage with cheap gas. Then again with the 3.8 it normally only gets a little of 19 on the cheap stuff.

Drive the old RX-7 for the majority of the week. I bought the car cheap originally to take the load off the SS, but she kind of grew on me. It gets a pretty decent MPG, looks cool, handles great, and best of all its rotary powered which sets it apart from all the other 'rice'.

01 Nissan Sentra SE. Good sound system, decent horsepower, handles well and good gas mileage. I think I get about 28 mpg. I have no problem cruising at 90 mph. Does that at 3500 rpm so it clearly has much more in it. Great car.

gordyzx9r Lexus beware !!!!!!

Just a heads up before you buy that Lexus!!! google "lexus sludge" and "toyota sludge" and see how many Toyota and Lexus owners have had to replace entire engines!!! Huge problem with the V6 design. You must run Synthetic oil if you do get one. This is not meant to scare you, just hate to see someone go where I have already been:mad: If you do look at one, before paying for it, have the dealership or owner put it on a lift, drain the oil then stick some type of bent wire (coat hanger) into the drain hole, the idea is to pull chunks of sludge out of the engine. If you find any, pass on the car.

Just saw diesel today for $1.69 a gallon. My #'s are for an average of 70mph highway with A/C from MI to WI. Any idea what your RAM will do pulling a heavy load? Not gloating whatsoever considering I paid $6k for the diesel/transmission. Even with the high cost I'm grateful for getting a diesel for longevity, low fuel price, low maintenance and torque/power. To each his own which is why they offer different powertrain combinations based on need.

I purchased vehicles with gas engines only to find out later power needs for towing were substandard. I considered the Chevy 8 Litre gas engine but after examinging the hwy MPG and my needs for assorted towing/loads the diesel was the winner.

I kick myself all the time for not buying the duramax/Allison package when I bought my 01 Chevy 2500HD. When I started this thread I was curious what the commuters were driving and how far. The feedback was great. I have my choice to drive my truck which has a 6" lift and 35" superswampers and swallows fuel at about 12 MPG or My 87 GN w/ only 22,000 and I would like to keep the miles down on it exept for fun drives, not Seattle traffic or my 91 Accord Ex which I was going to sell until I got a new job with a commute. I don't like driving the honda all that much becouse its nothing compared to my other cars. I just don't feel very cool in it, More like a sellout. It does get good fuel mileage and is good in traffic with an automatic trans.

my 93 notch 5.0
It sounds, and looks pretty good (in my opinion), gets 21-23mpg, and at 85mph is only turning about 2100rpm. Gotta love those 3.08's
Just enough power to be fun.

Thanks for the warning. But no matter what, I'm sure the wife will still want one...I think she's doing it out of spite 'cause she's jealous of the GN. We'll end up buying a certified used one so we get the 3 year 100,000 mile warranty, and we'll buy an additional 2 years to that as well. I made some offers, just waiting to see what dealership takes the bait.
