about a month ago, the trans in my 84 T broke at the track.
shifted fine during the run, but when i slowed down to hit the return road, it essentially locked up the driveline when it downshifted into 2nd gear. i threw it into neutral and coasted off, and put it in "D" to get back to the pits. it locked up the driveline on the 1-2 shift going about 10mph, and i threw it into 1 to get back to the pits.
it launches fine off the line- until the shift..
fluid looks perfect, and it always locks up on the 1-2 shift. i can't push the car back and forth by hand when it's in neutral- running or not. so i think something welded to something it shouldn't have.
but i do still have P, R, and 1 to play with..
i just parked it when i got it hauled home, and haven't even really looked at it or thougth about it in about a month. but i wanna drive my car again.
does it look like i get to learn how to rebuild a BQ code 2004r trans?.

I'm not sure if im reading right, but when it shifts into 2nd it locks up as in the tranny locks and the wheels stop turning? If that is the case, im pretty positive you're going to need to pull it and find out what went wrong. Drop the pan and see if there is any debree in there, im sure there will be some. Good luck with it

actually, it's not like the wheels stop turning- it's more like it's trying to be in more than one gear at a time, and thus it pulls the car to a dead stop in a hurry. and even with the car shut off, i can't push it around by hand with the tranny in neutral.
no metal floating around in the fluid- still a nice, bright, blood red color- but i haven't puilled the pan yet.

Low reverse clutch

has some kind of issue. Also if you rolled the sprag the same thing would be experianced. Ck both real close.
