I would've bet every car in my signature that I'd see your post on here, Drew. Ahahahahahhaha! :D

I paid $14,250 for my 87 Hardtop in Oct 2000, had 18k miles, and absolutely mirror show quality paint (which it still does), GNX dash, upgraded suspension, basic mods, etc. Non power seat car, which I fixed by installing Recaros out of an 85 BMW.

Doug

and you would have been a winner, not a loser:D Like I said, my favorite subject. GO PATS! Drew

$8300 canadian or around $4700 us in 1997. Couple crooked body panels, so so interior somewhat hacked in certain places. Still very much salvageable to mint condition. Now it runs very strong, and has never had a rebuild.

The abuse she had gotten over the years by previous owners is sickening. Now she's in her prime.

Ive had offers, but dont want to sell yet.

1st TTA Paid 5k sold it for 3k = ouch
1st GN Paid 5800 sold it for 6500
Current GN paid 8500 and got a 10,000 dollar car...Karma :D
Of course I have a hell of alot more in it now

$11K for 87 GN with 56K miles, perfect shape california car. All mods listed below as well as 6 guage Autometer set up, 16" aluminum wheels, 2K stereo, alarm, cover, odds n ends.

I paid 11k for a 48k mile 87GN last year. The car still had plastic on the seats and the stock open black letter 215/45s. However, I did find some evidence of body work in the past, but nothing that showed up on Carfax.... go figure

The only mod was a stainless exhaust system. The car has very few options.
Though no power windows or seats doesn't bother me...

I definitely would have liked to find the 28k mile $10k gns everyone seems to have found..

Paid 6k for a 4k car. Car was not driveable needed a new powermaster. Had 80k miles on it. Had new paint and 11 sec combo. I was only 19 and wanted a TR so bad and it was a WE4 like I wanted. Two months later the motor had "0" oil pressure. Found out the motor was destroyed (needed new block) the motor was very poorly built. Live and learn I guess..........4 years later and an honest $30k into it.......I wish I had never bought this car, even with new suspension and body bushings, it rides like a truck and rattles like crazy.

If I could turn back time I would buy a low mile mint car for 15-20k and put $10k in mods to it and be better of than I am now.:)

I paid $4000 for my 86 T-type 86k original miles....The paint is not good but rust free Texas car... Blew the engine about 2 mos. after I bought it... overrevved it:confused: Paid $2500 to rebuild engine now it is time for a paint job.... Unusual car though it has Dk. Blue Metallic paint with tan leather interior w/ auto on the column...Never seen one like that before!!!!

Blew the motor after 2 months? Mine went after 1 day - wrong gas, boost too high all kinds of stuff

Paid $11,250 back in Feb. of 2002 fotr the T in my Sig, 62,320mi.
ORIGINAL miles, which might seem a little high, although being this was my 3rd T I knew EXACTLY what to look for, and among all
the other thinks, the Biggest thing is that the original owner, a 74 yr. old gentleman NEVER EVER raced it!! The compression was and still is ~160 COLD in all cylinders, perhaps that explains the Phenominal performance!

--110mph with TOTALLY Stock Turbo & Intercooler, Converter & Trans at 21-22Lbs. boost, 23degrees timing, Zero retard, 3720Lbs., 58 Degree day! By the way the ET was only a 12.38 due to a whimpy launch! VERY tight car!

Paid $16,290.00 for my 87 GN, and it was mint :) only had 3 miles on it when I picked it up and it smelled brand new, original tires, original battery. :)

I paid $3500 for my '86 GN that had been sitting in a guy's back yard for a couple of years because the motor was knocking. It had 215k miles but other than a couple of bad scratches on the driver side it had a really nice repaint. Took the oil pan off after getting it home and all the rod and main bearings were worn down to the copper. The crank looked good so we just slid new bearings in from under the car and put the caps and pan back on. The knocking was gone and have been driving it for about 2 years now and a few trips to the track too with no bottom end problems. I'm in the process of building a girdled stock block with Champion irons for it.

I paid $16,000 for mine and it had 347 miles on it at the time. That was June 20th of 1986. The mileage was incurred when they picked it up at a dealer in Georgia.

Over the past year I've put about $7000 into repair of a front end collision and a restoration.

Bought my 87 GN about 11 years ago with 17K for $8500. The reason for the low price was right before I arrive at this guys house, he decided to pull the GN out in the driveway to wash it. He finishes and goes to back it back into the garage and somehow he says his foot slipped onto the gas pedal instead of the brake and he back the the passenger rear corner of the GN right thru the garage/family room wall!! Well the I bought the car as is which really only had some slight damage and got a decent price on it.

Picked mine up for 4500 bucks from the orginal owner he said 127k on it but he blew the motor before his 60,000 mile warranty was up so everything new and all the other goodies i have done very happy with the price and a smile on my face everytime i look at her:)

a year and an half ago $23,000 '87 GN with t-tops and 644 original miles. The sticker with all the dealer add-on's was just over $20,000 in Sept '87. Car now has 701 original miles.

$15,500 for mine new off the showroom floor March of 1988.I feel the same as Steve Wood, don't want to know how much money I've got in it now!!!

$6300.00 and about 2k more in mods give or take.

oh yeah..

I don't even want to get into the hot air fiasco:o

$15,700 in December, 1986. Drove it the first two years with snow tires in the winter. Spent $25,000 the past 17 years to keep it worth $15,000.

16 years ago - $17,900

16 years ago - January 19, 1988 - Purchase Price $17,900 with list price of $18,751 with 00153.0 miles. PAID IN FULL - CASH.

ALL ORIGINAL except exhaust, computer chip, oil, battery. 36,062 miles -- stored for winter on Oct. 15, 2003.

Plus another $2,105 in addition for extra rims, after market alarm, misc stuff and a extended warranty ($840) that was never used. Oh yeah, plus ATR Walker stainless steel dual exhaust.

Plus Insurance of $1800 / year in 1988 when I was 22 yrs old!! Today it costs me $360 / year for insurance and I am 38 years old.

Get this kicker, I had no plans of keeping my GN, so I smoked the tires until they were junk, Original Eagle GT ROWL, and then replaced them with BFG Comp TA's. On December 10, 2003, I Purchased 4 Original Eagle GT Tires with Raised Outer White Lettering never used with GM sticker still attached for $1,500.00 on Ebay, should be here 12/23/2003.

I have found many Eagle GT Tires that are Original, but are NOT the Raised White Lettering.

Now my car is completely original, along with all documentation, window sticker, application for title/registration, basic new vehicle and pre-delivery inspection procedure. Not to mention all the books that come with the car when purchased NEW from local Buick Dealership.

The first salesman at the dealership blew me off and thought I was a tire kicker, looking for a joy ride. So I went home and called the Dealership and asked for the Buick Dealership Owner - Gerald Van Dyn Hoven and explained the story. I went back to the dealership and the GN was ready for a test drive, which origianlly was parked next to 2 t-types, when I first visited the dealer. They only got one GN, and the rest were t-types. They also, had a WE4 for sale in 1987, but it had a bad engine, so it was replaced and sold to another kid in town younger than me. His payments and insurance were $600.00 / month. But he wanted it, (license plate "LIL 666") I thought that was kinda cool. We never really spoke to each other until he sold his WE4 and saw me at a local Church car show with my GN. He sold his WE4 to buy a house with his wife.

More information than purchase price but some history as well.

P.S. While leaving the dealership for a test drive in the GN, I was followed by a Wisconsin State Trooper. So we took some family style turns and went back to the dealership to lose the State Trooper. Then we went back out later and that is when I made my decision. Awesome were my exact words. I'll BUY IT. I never did look at any other GN's in the area. It was the only Grand National I looked at. I was also looking at buying a 1987 300 ZX Turbo, but No insurance company would insure me. I checked on insurance for the GN and they said it would be XXX dollars per year. I put $6495 down and balance due upon delivery. When I got home the insurance company called and said they made a MISTAKE and that I should SIT down. They didn't know the HP in the VIN meant a certain Red Flag to them, the insurance was 4 times higher than quoted initially. Too late I bought it.

Later
