I have used CD-2 Engine Detailer for a while and love it. It keeps every thing soft (hoses) and makes everything shine like mad. However, like every good product that comes out, now I am having trouble finding it!

I need to get some of Meguars Hyper Dressing to try out but right now I've been using some Turtle wax aerosol Tire dressing.

I use the CD-2 detailer and love it. I don't have a problem finding it though. The local AutoZone keeps it in stock.

simple green, then good ol armoral...perfect look everytime..

How do you guys work on your car when you have all that tire jizz crap all over everything making it slippery? I hate when detailers do that, can't grab anything without getting your hands all greasy.

I am glad to see that I am not alone on this. I visit the local car wash & use their high pressure soap & then high pressure rinse, then home I use Meguirrer's quick detailer, and any good leather cream or any good LVR cream, not a spray, and wipe/polish everything down. I will never spray anything where it can't be wiped down or rubbed in. Can't stand armorall, and can't stand a motor compartment that has just been sprayed down and is shiny. Not everything is supposed to be high gloss or shiny. Simple Green on some stuff. Nothing goes on that can't get at least wiped down good to remove the "greasy kid stuff" feeling. I guess everybody to their own devices on this one, but nothing looks worse at a car show to me than a car that has had it's motor compartment sprayed down with wd40 or armorall. Zymol polish wax on the upper radiator cover & the metal inner fender strengthers between the fenders and the plastic inner fenders themselves.

mine looked pretty good at all the car shows, alot of compliments..i guess i dont spend as much time under my hood fixing things as some of you do,been lucky i guess...mines fast,11s, and runs great...i dont notice a greasy kid feeling?,when i open the hood to ad oil once in a while, but it might be burned off by then or dust has colected on top of the armoral...o well works for me and keeps the aluminum looking good too.

I used to use Gojo hand cleaner (the creamy stuff) to clean the rubber hoses and alot of plastic items. Since it's a hand cleaner it removes grease and leaves a natural look, not all glossy and slippery. Works really good on plug wires too and it's cheap. :)

Yeah, thats the other thing: When you use a "shiny" spray, it attracts dust and dirt, making the engine bay dirtier, quicker. I used to detail cars, and my boss tire shined everything. Even the A/C vents and pedals (dangerous). I had a firebird formula and what I did was use the degreaser and pressure washer to clean the engine, and no dressing. It stayed clean till the day I sold it, and I drove it EVERY day.

I did get a little nuts with the tire dressing elsewhere, though. I used it on the wheel wells to make them look new, and a little known trick is to use it on painted rims, as in not polished or chromed. It gives them a uniform look and the next time you wash the brake dust comes right off. I had the stock "snowflake" rims, which were next to impossible to clean. The tire dressing idea kept them spotless. It also hides imperfections in clear coated rims.

My formula was so frickin' clean, I used to buff it every other week and wash it twice a week. I miss that slow ass car......

I used those hand scrub wipes around the engine bay.. then some chrome and powder coating everything else always helps!

True, I was trying to get the white car prepped for a show and had to actually work instaed of working on the car. I grabbed something I thought was fast and it looked good for a while.

My real plan is to try out the Meguars Safe Degreaser along with Hyper Dressing to put a long term shine on it.

My buddy turned me on to CD-2 but before I could start using it, Autozone is starting not to keep it in stock.
