What fluid to use?

I have been using mercon III. Has anyone tried mercon IV? I can get the mercon IV fairly cheap. I am just affraid of putting it in my tranny.

Use Mobile Mobilefluid 424 Hi Torque tractor fluid. Buy it in a 5 gal pail add 1 maybe 2 quarts of dextron for color and you are set.

I have seen that before where people are using tractor fluid. Why exactly are they doing it? What kind of fluid is it anyway?

Its just hi quality fluid. Very stable does not burn as regular ATF does, has a very high flash point and hi film strength. Its made for Cat dozers, John Deere farm equipment. It works great. Trans runs cooler does not thin like ATF at hi temps.

Does using Mobile Mobilelube 424 Hi torque Tractor fluid change the shift points in normal street driving? My 2 to 3 shift is a little late on the street. This is a fresh trans and my first time using this fluid. It seems thicker.

It will not change the shift points.
