What happends whit traffic in manhattan around 05:00PM?

I took a taxi from jfk to manhattan and the taxi driver drove literlly like he have stolen the car...
When the ride was over he sad that he must drive like that because the clock was almost 05:00PM.
I forget to asked, i just tried to swollow the fly food again...

So, what happends at 5? :biggrin:
