I have heard people say Art Carr from California and from Texas and I was wondering what is the difference. Or is there any difference. Are both owned and operated by the same people. Are all the products the same quality and value. Thanks

the original art carr (the person )is a friend of ours .his company does not go under the name art carr .i believe it is now west coast racing transmissions.a good guy.anyone else using the name has shown me that a flat on a bike may prove to be a difficult task for a new art carr employee.if your into pain and aggravation this company may be your ticket to mayhem .and guys if you dont like me feel free to post, nothing stopped you before.,and i dont cry easily .THANKS TO EVERYONE AT TURBO BUICK FOR THE OVERWHELMING INTEREST AND SUPPORT OF WWW.CKPERFORMANCE.COM

So which one is the real Art Carr the one from Texas or California. And which one is better. Thanks

The real Art Carr is back in business in CA. The outfit in Texas just bought the name several years ago, and their product, well, for the lack of a better explanation, just plain sucked.

chris718, I thought Art had bought his name rights back? or isn't that resolved yet?

art carr the person,in california as far as i know ,cannot use the name anymore because of the court case .we got something from him in the mail that said he is now west coast racing automatics orsomething similar .the art carr company in california may be crooked saleem who has the old phone number for the art carr compmany.art may have temporarily advertised as ART CARR CALIFORNIA in the midst of his lawsuit .if your not sure callthe california number and ask to speak to him.then you know your safe .he acepts calls.

The reason I am wanting to know is a guy is selling me a 9 inch n/l convertor and I need it and want it. He said that is was the Art Carr from Texas and I didnt want to buy some crap. So does anyone have the number so I can call them and ask them.

I only recently had reason to pay attention to this particular subject and despite all the negatives about AC in Texas, I have yet to see any details as to why they have this reputation.

Couple of months ago I bought an AC 9.5" LU from Jack Cotton w/o thinking about real or not-real AC. 2 weeks later I had a failure that led me and everyone else to immediately blame the converter. Jack put me in touch with Dan at AC and I have to tell you that was a very pleasant and surprising customer service experience. He asked that I return it and promise to do everything necessary to make it right if the converter was the problem. To MALSS, they found nothing wrong and returned it at no cost. No big deal, I expected no less. Turns out the problem was my tranny front pump and since that has been corrected everything has been working flawlessly. MOF, the performance has been nothing short of spectacular!

If I was unaware of the "real AC" situation, this converter and the service I received would have been highly recommended based on my experience. This is the same situation I had with my PTE-51 which worked flawlessly and was still in like-new condition when I pulled and sold it. Are other converters better? I am sure they are and cannot imagine it since I think this one is very good. Based on the service I received, I cannot imagine the same person treating another customer differently.

All I am saying is if there is real basis for their reputation, let the rest of us hear about it and not just the label pinned on them or anyone else.

my $0.02

I have been researching 200-4R vendors and product more than any part I have ever bought for any of my cars. I have received a lot of good information from a number of sources.

I have had several conversations with Rich from Art Carr (TX) over the months. He has always freely answered my questions, and has shared information with me that I am sure is proprietary and "competition sensitive".

I have talked to one person who personally had problems with Art Carr (AZ) when it was under those owners. Nothing else has been definative.

I consider the treatment I have gotten from Art Carr (TX) to be very honest and professional and they are still on my short list of probable sources.
