I have the opportunity to get the motor out of an 84 buick grand national for 350 dollars. The motor is supposed to be fresh and ready to run. How much would I come out of pocket setting up an intercooler and bigger injectors, headers, and possibly a computer upgrade? The motor will be going in my 85 buick regal. Im putting a 350 turbo bop tranny behind it. Will i need an upgraded computer ? please help?

If you want to do it you can...

You would need a lot of stuff as mentioned in your other thread.

Different computer, possible power steering pump issues due to your other car not having hydroboost brakes. Different dash, not a big deal. You would need gauges for boost, water temp, and oil pressure.

You wouldnt have overdrive with the bop 350 trans, do not know how high the motor would be reving on the highway going 80, but these motors dont like to go above 5,500.

The intercooler conversion can be done (I did it), but it is not cheap and (ALL) parts are scarce for the hotair cars.

Downpipes are obtainable, but priced around 500 - 600
When I bought the intercooler kit (no longer made) for my car it was around 1200.
The injectors, chips and maf sensor can all be had very easy. If you can find yourself an 86/87 ecm do yourself a favor and run the motor with that ecm.

Also if you can you will need to get the engine harness from the car if it is there. If not, start looking, because they are way different than a naturally aspirated regal.

Anymore questions about hotair motors should probably be asked in this section of the forum (where the hotair experts reside).

I'm not one of them, but I'm learning more and more evertime I put my foot in the gas.
