I am just curious, when running at the track what speed I should lock the TC? When I initially got my 6.0 TT chip, the default was not to lock at WOT. So I'm on I-75 and the pedal to the metal and I over reved my engine and broke the rocker shaft due to a lifter becoming unseated and a push rod jamming. Now that my car is running is again and I plan on taking it too the track next year, I am trying to figure out when I should lock the converter. I'm not sure what the dangers are of just arbitrarily picking a speed and if the ECM was to lock the converter how does it select the speed or does it just have a predetermined speed? Which I assume it does. I heard 76mph before.

Thanks.

IMO dont lock it at WOT. The TCC isnt going to last and when it dies its gonna send all that crap through the trans.
Instead get a modernPTC 2600 lock up from Dusty and have the chip set up to not force lock up at WOT

With the 6.0 TT chip, you either select a speed or shut it off and don't lock at WOT. I can't shut if off and make sure it doesn't lock, but how do you keep from over reving the engine if all you have is a fluid coupling? Can a better TC help accomplish this?

HUH? Overrevving ?

This is what I mean by over reving the engine. This is a stock CAM, lifters and pushrods. I'm pretty sure this caused a lifter to come out of the bore with the pushrod still seating and my rocker shaft broke. When I pulled it apart, only one of the pushrods were bent, which of course was seated on lifter that had came out of the bore.

Why are you reving the motor that high and not at WOT anyway. Your TPS? 3.32 ?

With a 26 tall tire and 3.42 thats right around where it should be with thE TCC unlocked. and its not overevving IMO.

I revved my stock cam to that rpm all the time and did it daily for 100 plus k miles on the same 979 valve springs and rocker shafts.
Too much spring can cause excessive shaft breakage, etc IMO.
More details on your set up top end wise?

I have Champion Ported heads. When they were ordered with the information was with a stock CAM, so I think the springs are stock springs. However, you just pointed something the out to me, the TPS voltage is not correct. I was flooring the car at this time. I think I need to check and what is up with my TPS voltage. I have both my Scanmaster and PL. Initially I thought was decelerating, but the voltage remains the same. I think my TPS sensor is out of adjustment, at least for WOT values, or needs to be replaced. You can clearly see I was flooring it here. I'm not sure what problems this can cause and probably should be in another thread.

I will check my TPS voltage, at least with the ignition on when I get home tonight.

Try removing your floor mat on the drivers side if you haven't done so already. It can cause issues with less than full voltage at the TPS at WOT.

You nailed it! It was folded and therefore inhibiting WOT.
