What the heck? Identify this part....

Ok, so the BOV discharges back into the intake stream.

I thought, typically, a BOV would vent to the atmosphere.

Oh well, learning new things all the time :D

Thats where my old DSM (Talon) turbo's bov air went.. Back into the intake.. It has to be a closed system to be emissions legal.. Thats maybe why he did this.. OR maybe he was not fond of the Cheesy ricer BOV sounds.:)

Its not so much to stay emissions legal, as its just for the computer.

The air vented out the blow off valve has already been metered by the Mass Air Flow sensor, so it's better to vent it back into the intake after the MAF. Otherwise, the computer will be doing silly things like going rich and trying to correct for it and such.

On a Speed Density System it wouldn't matter.
 
Also, dumping it back into the intake helps keep the turbo spooled up. Helpful for the manual trans. imports.
