Looking at a 84 t type, any major issues one should be aware of before committing to buy?

Don't know much about them, been watching for a buick for a year or two local, was messing with DSM turbo cars but want something different and perhaps better. I'll do a bunch of reading tonight, not sure how fast I should, or should not act on this car.

I went from fwd turbo dodges to gns and i can tell you its a matter of what you like..gns are easier to work on but as you know any turbo car is expensive..Do your research on here theres a lot of good people and info..for the most bang for your buck you want an 86 or 87 gn or t type/turbo t the 84 ans 85 cars arent intercooled and slower they can be made fast too but its a lot harder... Welcome to the darkside !!!!

Yes I think your right, from the reading a IC car would be a better start. Probably pass on the 84, but I'll keep my eyes open.

Where are you located? theres lots of deals to be had... how much are you lookin to spend ? Have you checked cars for sale on here?

I'm in Iowa. I am actually in the process of trying to get rid of a few of my other turbo cars. This thing popped up on CL and the gears started turning :D I don't even know what amount of $ gets you a good car and what buys you a turd...so I need to do the footwork! Heres the car that I was considering. Probably a lot of headaches there.

84 buick turbo T-TYPE

Thats not a bad price i like the color..Except it has a salvage title...It all depends on what you are buying the car to do..If you wanna go a lil fast or a lotta fast,or if you wanna roll slow cruise and hit car shows then that would prollly be a good car to get and fix up..If you want to be feared at stop lights and wanna have the berries to back it up then get a 86-87 gn or a t type with the blackout package...

What are your goals? The price isn't bad, depending upon what a close inspection will uncover. Ask if he still has receipts for the engine/trans work he says was done.
