I have an 87 GN. I just rebuilt the engine and I am in the process of put it all back together the list is as follows. 30 over piston, 50 lbs injectors, 218-218 cam, mild head porting, power plate, alky system, 2 chips (street and strip).
Now question#1) What size Turbo is best suited for the above application?

2)Which part distributor has the best turbo for the money.

3) What ET should I expect in a 1/4 mile?

All comments are greatly appreciated!

The size of the turbo will really depend on what converter you are using and what your ET goals are.

If you have a loose converter (over 3200) I would go with a PTE-54 with .85 housing, but then the you might need more injector to go with it. My 85 went 113mph at 17psi on pump gas with that turbo on unported heads and a smaller cam than you have. It also went 117.9mph at 23psi at 3500ft elevation (corrects to 122ish).

I had the 54 up to 26psi on race gas. race chip on the street at sealevel and if felt ALOT faster than than it did at 23psi.

With the car setup right you should be able to run high 10's with it if you have enough fuel.

Another option that most people don't know about is Innovative turbos 60-1 Stage V turbo. It is basically a bigshaft 60-1, P-Trim with a PTE exhaust housing. I put one on my friends 86 (214/208 cam, CAS v2, 55# inj, 3200 stall, THDP, mild heads, etc). The car spools quick and pulls hard even at 15psi where it is set for the street. We will see how it will et at the nats :)

What size turbo

I have almost the exact same setup. Have the 218 cam, 52lb injectors, major head work, and SMC kit. I am running a TE-49 turbo and that makes the car pull like a rabid bear with a 3500 stall converter.

Precision Turbo & Engine aka PTE sells the TA-49 as well as John Craig at Limit Engineering. I would check out www.precisionte.com and talk to a turbo vendor cause they can match the correct turbo choice for your combo and goals. HTH :)

Had to drop my .02 cents in. Make sure you get the right convertor for the turbo.

Seems to me that this is one of the biggest mistakes that are made.
Everybody wants big turbos. But it's all a combination.

Now if I could practice what I preach:)
