I would have to say the new Ford Taurus SHO would come pretty close. Granted, it's a 4 door, but it's making 365HP on a twin turbo V6, runs 14's stock, and some have already gotten them into the 12's on some minor tuning.
That's a tough call because they don't make a mid-size sporty coupe anymore. I would think a Charger SRT8 or a new SHO would be close if you didn't mind 2 extra doors.
This works for me now and satisfies any sporting pretensions I still have as I grow older. The badge says Buick but the motor is an all-aluminum LS4. It moves along for a big, roomy car. Coming out of a Supercharged Regal GS, this was the next logical step for me. After this, who knows what lies on the internal combustion horizon.
