Hey guys I'm in the market for a 87 GN and i want to make sure i don't buy a clone by accident. what's the best way to tell? thanks.

1)87 gn with have a 7 in the eighth digit of the vin (lc2 turbo)
2)all gn's has grey and black interior,w/6 logo on the headrests
3)we2 code on the trunk id tag (black out trim)
4)wo2 code on the id tag (grand national code)
5)87 gn's came with chrome wheels

not 100% sure on the codes,HTH

heres the link to ttypegn.org rpo codes; Buick Turbo Regal Option Codes (Regular Production Options - RPO)

Thanks for the reply. How do I tell the difference in VINs of a 87 T and an 87 GN?

the 7 code in the vin pertains to both,so you really cannot.best way is to study the rpo sicker on the trunk lid.if the car doesn't have this, run or buy cheap;)

also the vin # on the trunk rpo should match the car.

another thought is to make sure there wasn't (if car is original unpainted/wreaked) a hole for a header panel emblem ( most times the bondo will shrink).only we4's and gn's didn't have a header panel emblem.
