I have the 86 GN with a 87 front grill (looks much better!!!) and saw a ??? GN parked next to my other car and was curiuos if it was a "naked GN" or a T-Type....It looked exactly the same, all black, hood bump...no stock wing... it was a little raised 1"- 2"( looked appropriate ) had weld racing rims w/ BFG's...basically a GN with no badging different rims, and a different small raised wing. My Q is...is this a GN with new paint or a T-Type and what else is the difference ???
Thanks, Bryan

The GN was only a trim option for a Turbo Regal. The regular Turbo T or T-Type (depending on what year you are talking about) could be had in quite a few colors INCLUDING BLACK. I think these were called W-4 cars. My 87 GN is de-badged so you can't tell if it is or isn't UNLESS you look inside at the upholstery and door panels. Black and Gray but these too could be replaced. Best sure way is look at the build sticker inside the trunk lid for the GN option code (can't remember it offhand.

Also, a GN and a Turbo T or T-Type are identical mechanically except for rims.

Hope that helps - Terry

You could get a WE4 Regal that was a black Turbo T with the T wheels, no spoiler and grey interior...not two toned. The car you saw coulda been a normally aspirated Regal with a turbo hood on it or could have been a turbo Regal with an aftermarket spoiler. The ONLY factory spoiler for the Regal was the GN spoiler, on available on the GN.

The Cutlass had a wing type spoiler available though, I believe on the 442/Hurst Olds only.
