I was playing around with my car this past weekend and it got pretty cold outside at night (low 40's). Anyways I turned the boost up another lb and noticed the boost was at 27 psi:eek: So I decided to give her a try and see what it would do. Needless to say the car was pulling like a raped animal. I was getting absolutely no knock up until about 110 mph when the o2's started dropping into the low 700's so I let off. Now of course the chip I am using doesn't exactly have 100% fueling to take full advantage of my injectors. The chip has 23 degrees timing in all gears.

My question is...how high can I turn this thing up? I mean is 27 psi safe to run if you are getting no knock at all and your o2's are in the 780's? What would happen if I decided to have more fuel put in the chip on top? Or am I just being greedy and I need to run race fuel in order to run such boost...granted I need to run alot of boost on these stock heads to make any power but is 27 too much? I was told that maybe I am getting no knock, but my EGTs are really high and I might be burning up the pistons...is that true? I've never had the wick turned up this high before on pump gas and alky.

Don, don't be shy. I've run 29-30 lbs regularly..... with zero KR and low timing....unopened motor and pt61
It's all Razor's fault.......:D

I played around with 25 psi and 27* timing and got a little kr. Now my alky is tuned, Im sure I could plug it back in and be relitivly safe.

Every car is diffenent.

Your KR is occuring from being too lean. richen it up with alky.27 psi is a lot of boost and can destroy a 3.8 with detonation.Didnt you already blow a headgasket before:D

yeah I guess I will never learn:confused: :D

actually the last time I blew a headgasket, it was last year back in November when I was trying to run 27 psi on a TE-44 turbo and stock intercooler...and that was on the original 17 year old gaskets that had been detonated to death throughout the years...now I have fresh gaskets on with little to no detonation on them and I have a MUCH more efficient turbo and intercooler...plus the alky is alot better now that it's a progressive unit with a new pump...I think honestly I am safe running this high of boost but I have my nay-sayers out there that are just giving me a hard time I guess and I trying to get the truth...
