What's this knock???

Well i recently started too notice a knock in my car i can hear it when the car is in park and or in drive when i stop in a light at idle, what can it be i mean the car runs good just last week i busted out a 13.5 here in vegas i dont know what can it be the block is stock, just needs a valvespring and timing chain replace ment. it's not loud loud but it's notisable when at idle. any suggestion;s will be taken thanx in advance.

Header beginning to crack? Sounds just like a lifter tick. Most noticable when hot and idling.

well i dont know b4black but your right when it's warm i can hear the knock, but i did the hear test i got a long screw driver and examined aroun the block but it seems the the knock comes from the front of the engine. i got under the pan on the valve covers in the water pump. do you guys think it's from the timing chain since it's stock and needs replacement???? well hope it's nothing major??

your post sounds like my problem. I don't know if you read my post but KWIKR1 mentioned it might be the timing chain.

Does your car shake at idle. Can you hear the knock if you rev the motor to 1500-2000 rpms. I used a stethascope to see if I can hear the knock on various parts of the motor but couldn't detect where the knock was coming from.

If I figure something out... I'll let you know.

I would check the endplay in the crank to make sure its not serious. Pry the crank forward and back. If you can see it move thrust bearing may be worn. Mine would set off the knock detector but ran 13.1.

Worn Cam Sensor? That's the source of my ticking noise. Only it goes away once it warms up a little.

I used the stethescope trick too but with a long thick srewdriver and couldnt find anything but the knock sound's like it's coming from the front and i can hear when i rev it up a little not as much when it's at idle but it's hearable. hopefully it's nothing serious thanx for the help guys.
