What's with only being able to view one picture at a time all of a sudden?

So annoying.

I keep forgetting to close the tab the pic opens in and instead end up clicking on X in the upper right corner, where you used to close pictures, therefore closing the whole damn window. Plus, you can't scroll thru multiple pics using left and right arrows anymore.

Who did that, and WHY?

After the last crash viewing pictures from this board, on my S6 Samsung cell phone is real bad. Figure its the 2016 phone, but i see others with issues viewing pictures now I don't know. Viewing them on a desk top PC is much easier.
