Yesterday I found out why the stock turbo from the '86 T-type seemed to have a lot louder whistle than that of the other turbo cars I've been in. Guess the bearings went bad? Started making a sound like a rusty drill w/ a failing motor at anything more than 5in. vacuum. Tried not to get above 30mph on the way home. Checked the oil, and didn't see any metallic in it, and there didn't seem to be any oil in the intercooler, but it was smoking out the exhaust a little bit. No broken fins or blades, but the shaft moves every direction about 1/4" and will hit the housing. Anything else I should check for before replacing?

It was louder because of the wheels draging the housing. Call John Craig about rebuilding it or swaping out for a new Turbo. This would be a good time to upgrade.
