If I have an adjustable wastegate, would I be able to use a Thrasher 92, but up the boost to around 20psi or so?? (I'd be using race gas of course) Or do I have to get a race chip?

Also, in september my friend and I are going to the track just to race for the hell of it. So of course I'm gonna race on street tires, and so is he..The problem is that I have BFG Radial TA's and they're speed rated up to 112mph. Does that mean if I race and go over 112 that they'll burst or something? Has anyone gone above the speed rating?

i asked a tire shop once about speed ratings and he said its something like you can go over that speed for a certain amont of time before they start to come apart. a couple of runs shouldnt hurt. i have the same tires you have also (BFG Radial T/A's) i would get a race chip b/c i believe a race chip would increase timing, boost, etc. b/c it assumes you are using race gas, hence the name, Race Chip. a thrasher is only $25 so go ahead and get it i would say.

I think speed rating on tires is continuous speed at which they are guaranteed to perform properly. I only have 112 rated tires on front, and have gone faster than that often enough (not in the 1/4 mile though). I wouldn't worry about it.

As for the race chip, it would be nice to have since it'd give you more timing, but your stock chip will still work. The racegas will let you run more boost, and that'll give you more power. It's just that you won't be able to take FULL advantage of the racegas because you won't have the higher timing. But you'll definitely feel the additional boost! Good luck and have fun.

Yes, get a Thrasher with higher timing, a 100 chip. They run around 6 to 8 degree more timing than the 92 chip. You will notice a bigger difference on a stock turbo and injector car. You won't have to worry about going over 112 if you have the stock turbo and injectors also.

The Thrashers fuel pressure recommendation is 45 to 47 lb static, line off. So its best to start at 47 if running high boost and decrease from there if you have no knock, to be safe. You'll really like the additional boost if you have not tried that before, the car turns into a real animal! This is why you read about so many people running alky systems on the street.

If you want to launch the car and can get some BFG DRs or maybe borrow some, it will be worth the effort or money. They don't need a burnout, just a little powerbrake and spinning to clean them off. My GN does not have airbags yet, you can see the 60' difference of 0.16 gave a 0.3 increase in the eighth time since it is the same mph. I see in your sig you do have the airbags. I am relatively new at the racing, I'm guessing from your post you may be too. See my T sig for tire and chip results.
