Julio, or anyone else who knows/has dealt with this...just curious as to how often the inline filter on an alkycontrol kit needs to be replaced?

Thanks.

its just a precaution to prevent anything that might fall in the reservoir when filling from getting to the nozzle and blocking the small opening on the nozzle which would be bad , but even the nozzle has a filter so the inline really isnt needed but its there just the same and its easier to take the inline out and backflush it with some water than to pull the nozzle to clean the nozzle screen

unless you are putting debris into the reservoir you should never need to change the filter

I only asked because I noticed some small pieces of dirt in my alky tank. I didn't put them in there. And I always used clean cans for my meth. But it's likely they came thru the hose on the fuel pump.

I was under the impression maybe the inline filter on the alky kit should be changed every so often, much like the fuel filter is changed on a spring cleaning.

fuel can have lots of debris , and the pump can shed metal and tanks can rust so changing a fuel filter is necessary,

the design of the alky filter is bronze powder filter media similar to that used on home heating oil burner nozzles , home oil nozzles filters can clog with varnish but meth dosn't contain oil so the filter dosn't varnish besides meth is a solvent so it cleans but it cant clean sand or debris .

the filter in the alky kit is also an inverted cone so debris gathers on the outside and dosn't impede flow

if you want to clean it just remove it and blow some water through it backwards and it will dislodge any debris that might have fallen into the reservoir and made it through the pump

Thank you Paul..

One easy way to clean the filter is disconnect the hose from nozzle and filter. Disconnect filter from hose coming from pump. Install filter backwards.. meaning arrow pointing torwards pump.. hook hose back up and put into a container. Now run system and blow liquid through the filter in the reverse direction. If you have a "Tester kit" simply plug it in and run the system at full pressure.. another way is to jump(short) the gray and green 3 bar MAP pins on its plug.. that simulates 30 PSI.. I would say run a gallon of water or fluid.. when done, flip the filter and reinstall it arrow pointing to nozzle.. plug the map sensor back in.. attach hose to nozzle.

Filter has been flushed.

Hope this helps.

Ohh.. how often.. if you see trash on the bottom of your alky tank.. then its time.

Thanks Julio, this does help. Yes there's some stuff in the bottom of my alky tank plus I'm encountering some knock during WOT. I'm thinking maybe the filter might be plugged causing not enough alky to get to the nozzle. I'll try the reverse and flush with the system and see what happens.
