I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed this. I live in south florida and there are just about no cars on the street that run anymore. I drove for about 2 hours saturday night and couldn't find anything. I used to pick up quick races about once a week especially last summer almost any given weekend night you find a race somewhere. I even went out to where all the street racers meet and it was empty too. Anyone else having this problem?

Well there is a new street racing law in Florida that was passed that carries a pretty serious punishment (they will take your car for street racing and you'll have to pay a good amount to get it back and you also get a criminal charge although it's not a felony the first time) so maybe the smarter people have figured out that it's NOT worth it! Taking it to the track is the only logical answer I see if you want to get a race and not worry about all the crap that could happen.........

Maybe all the Mustiinks broke down?
Or the imports spend so much $$ that they have to work 3 jobs to afford those wacky wheels & stereos they put on.

Some of us are still here. 
But like they said, you have to be a bit more selective about running on the street these days. I have no desire to go to jail, or to pick my car up from an impound lot. The real racing these days is done very quietly, and rather organized. Hell, about 30 or so of us went out this past saturday night, and had some nice races. Quiet spot outside of town, no one to bother us.

Personally I wouldn't allow them to get their car back. I say auction it off at public auction and the money goes into a fund for the families of the victims hurt during street races....

where? I didn't think spots like that exist in south florida.

Come out to Fudds on a Saturday night, and if you are at the right place at the right time, things tend to work out. I'm usually either with the F-Body guys, or just ask blackshoebox (Alex) where I'm at.

I ran chuck with the green chevelle and 396 out at fudds once but we ran on federal. I took him then he harrassed the s*** out of me and my 6 every week so i got sick of it and stopped going. But i heard theres some place everyone goes but i never talked to anyone who actually went there. Whens the next time you'll be out there?

I'll be in Orlando this weekend, but the one after, most likely.
Do you read what I post, or do you simply work off of assumptions? I stated clearly that we do NOT run on normal, traffic'd streets. A group of us go out to non-inhabited areas, and run in the middle of no where. That way the ONLY people who run the risk of getting hurt are the ones who made the conscious decision to go there and race. Wow, sure sounds like the TRACK, doesn't it? We are NOT the people who run down the middle of Main Street, USA at 5pm weaving in and out of traffic. I agree that THOSE people should be shot and dragged behind their cars. But we go and run in the most responsible fashion possible.
Given that there is no traffic and no innocent bystanders to get hurt, please explain to me how it is any different than going to the track and racing? You run your way, I'll run mine. Thanks

Ok, again with the assumptions.
There have been many nights the police have been out to watch us race. They understand that we go WAY out of our way to ensure that no innocents are at risk, and appreciate that we aren't adding to the body count piling up as a result of jackasses racing from every stop light in town. What YOU fail to realize is that just because something is "illegal" doesn't make it right or wrong.... Hell, the police block off roads in So Cal for the kids to race on, at set times on set nights of the week. This is because they understand the need is there, and the problem isn't going away. Smartest move they have ever made. Just because Florida hasn't gotten with the times yet, doesn't mean I'm "wrong". Would I still be "wrong" if I drove to Cali and participated in those races? Remember, it's not against the law there.....
The roads we pick are picked for a reason. Safety. We go where there *IS* no traffic, and if for some reason someone were to drive by, we would see them from MILES away, and gladly clear the road for them.
I don't think the problem here is my "simplistic" logic. I think the problem is that you fail to comprehend the difference between some fast and furious idiot, and myself. It is your small mindedness that won't allow you to perceive that there are people who would prefer to race on the street, in a safe environment, and are capable of actually doing so without endangering others.
I invite you to get off your high horse, drop the "holier-than-thou" attitude, and actually read what I am typing. You might just be surprised by the concept I am trying to convey here. It's not about "growing up", it's about growing SMART.

So if I raced in Cali, would everything be better? Explain to me, oh wise one, how something can be soooooo dangerous and wrong in one state, but legal in another. I'd really like to hear this.
I think the bottom line here is you can't bring yourself to admit that there *might* just be a chance that I am street racing, and yet am not being any more dangerous than you at the track. Reality sucks, but it's about time you came to grips with it.

I'm not one of those guys running on highways weaving around cars in rush hour traffic. Nor do I run on busy streets or in neighborhoods. Its fun to run on the steet. It makes things interesting and if there are no innocent bystanders that run the risk of getting hurt i don't see the problem. Legal and illegal DOES NOT mean right and wrong
