where is the best place to install water tempature sending unit after market?

i have a vdo water temp guage right now i have the sender on driver side of the block right under the headers theres a block plug i took out i think is a quarter inch and i had to use and extender tube to make it work is there a better way ? thanks in advance

I dont have the link but you can look at this post. The name of the post is Thermostat...something simple. You can install your water temp. sending unit right next to the thermostat.

so i would have to disconnect thr stock sending unit and plug the one for my guage i mean that is for the one for the dummy light anyway right.
