Does anyone know where I could buy GM color coded engine wire harness wire? I can find some of the wire locally but the wire that is multicolored I'm finding hard to find, any help would be very much appreciated.

Nothing against Caspers but thats what I'm replacing. I installed an original 87 GN harness because I had so many problems with my caspers harness after 30k miles. And I want to replace all the wires in my GM harness before I have more problems(over 140k miles). I just want it color coded correctly. And no problems.

Harness is in a S10 Hybrid with a GN motor. It will be driven daily(so it has to br reliable). I put a lot of miles on everything I drive so if it can break it will. Caspers sell's great products I just have had bad luck with my harness.

Thanks for the help Frank87 I do appreciate the help.

i am looking for this also as i want to redo my body harness, and dash harness. so i will need a place to get the gm colored wire too. ive called painless wiring and they stop at 1980 for harnesses.

Caspers wiring harness

Everything I bought from Caspers has been great. Sorry to hear that you got some bad stuff. Did you try to contact him and let him know? I hope you get it straightened out.

I wasnt the original purchaser and after a few problems didnt want to be a complainer, plus I fixed a few problems with the harness already my self, but had more problems. I fixed the first few problems, but didnt expect them to fix anything I had fixed my self.

Did you have any problems with the covers breaking off on the ground stretchers by chance, I had 2 break off , I'm on my third. And had a few guys tell me they had the same problem. I like almost all of Casper products Good company, but I did have a few repeat problems. I think they discontinued the covers.

U-Pull-it lots around here will practically give you the wiring harnesses, why not try that? You'll have at least one useable end per wire and all the connector shells you need...

I have a few spare harnesses , what Im trying to do is make a harness from New wire and New plugs. Theres got to be a source for New correctly coded GM wire.

Problems with one of our engine harnesses?? I'd be very interested in knowing what problems you had. We go thru great pains to make them perfectly...in fact we're fanatics about it. The original purchaser, maybe did some mod's.

As for the wire used on the harnesses, it's special wire - TXL cross linked with special high temperature insulation. We have spooled wire:

in a few colors, but for repair work, it's the right stuff.

Black hinged ground box has been discontinued, probably because the covers break off. In fact, many of the OEM connectors are becoming impossible to get now that Delphi is "cutting corners" to stay afloat. It's become a real problem trying to keep the 20+ year old harnesses in top shape.

Does anyone sell all the GM color coded wires. For instance the multicolored wires? All the solid colors I have already found. But if I need more in the future I will keep you in mind.

Regarding my old harness, it was very basic compared to your New harnesses, I saw one recently(they are very nice) and it made my harness look like a dinosaur. I had thought possibly the previous owner had modified the harness also.

Anyway, if you sell the multicolor GM color coded wire or know of a source to purchase it from would be great help.

We have virtually every color/stripe combination available, but we purchase the wire in 2000 ft. spools. Must have at least a hundred different combinations. Hardly economical if you're just looking to patch a few wires. I don't know of anyone else who loads the striped wire in smaller spools though.

We did the smaller spools with the basic colors only because we don't want to overload our inventory with "oddball" combinations.
