I was wondering if there is a good source to get replacement fasteners for various things. Right now specifically I am looking for the ones for the T-top trim and plastics. It would be nice to not have to re-use the various wood screws and what not that I took out. But I would also like to start replacing other things that are either incorrect or not in good shape. Thanks - Jason

Ace Hardware bro! ;) They have the proper trim screws in the hardware section. Both chrome and black anodized.

Get ahold of the two guys that part out a ton of cars (ttaowner I think, Brian at Gbody. Com) they will have them

Smart thinking, thanks. Or if that doesn't work I guess I could just find a buddy with t-tops and borrow the fasteners to match up at the store.

I specialize in tons of stainless; chrome and black anodized hardware.
Interior, exterior, underhood.
I've tagged and bagged literally hundreds of various fasteners to this point.
With hundreds left to go I'm sure.

Many times, if it is a piece that is not visible on the (black) exterior, I go with Stainless.
That way, to me, I can see all the fasteners and keep a running inventory in my head of what has been replaced, and what is due for a look-see.

Interior is a little easier, as you don't have to be as mindful of exactly the grade of stainless or chroming for rust prevention.

But as previous posters have said - you need to be just a tad bit more specific.

Say - specifics like - #8 x 1"; Pan head; countersunk, with integral washer, in stainless - or black painted, that sort of thing.
There are about at least 60 or so interior fasteners I have already catalogued.

And / or - as someone has said - find yourself a top shelf Ace Hardware.
Here in my area - it is Howard Brother's - Ace Hardware.
They have hundreds of chrome and, black, and satinless fasteners.
Be sure to bring a working credit card - the smallest bag of stuff gets to be hundreds quickly.

Plus tons of other goodies I use regularly, like fiber and rubber washers, vacuum line clamps, etc etc.

Home Despot or like will have something in bulk every now and then.
HD has really shrunk their fastener selection.
I think Lowe's keeps more variety in my tastes. For more "exotic" stainless, blackened etc.
But I'm not a fan of either.

For what it is worth.

junkyards... pretty much any 80's GM car will have the proper screws for pretty much anything.

Except that so many Regals end up as rebar these days.

And those junkyard guys are like dealing with EvilBay...they think the things sitting out there are made of gold.

How do you know what to get? If I ask them for a screw for a buick trim piece they are just gonna go o_O.

Yeah - when I'm browsing the chrome senction and some kid who works there always asks me "May I help you/'
I'm like - "Sure - I need a 10/32; button head, in Chrome; or stainless; must be 7/8" long'
Or I need a #8; Chrome, Pan head with washer..
You got that?
They usually walk away...and sell a garden hose to someone.

why limit to Regals- or even G bodies? GM used a lot of the same fasteners across all the lines- T Top trim fasteners can probably be found on F bodies, and the rest of the trim screws are pretty much universal across all the domestic makes from a given era.

Interesting, it's been years since I've been to a bone yard but might go back asap depending on weather, I used to go with two screw drivers and a pair of pliers, just go around to cars like mine and start taking screws and light bulbs, don't think I've bought a light bulb in 10 years. Of couse I'm not telling them what I'm getting, just say looking around and if ya find something better yet! Ya I guess I'm the great screw crook!
