Ive hurd before the turbo and closest to one cylinder, whats your opinion?

On my turbo charged mustang I had it about 5'inches from the turbine housing.I just ordered one for my 86GN and am putting in the same place.

hey

im putting mine right between the header and the turbo best spot would be where all the tubes from the heards collect.

Take a look at the photo link in my sig, and when in there, click on the Grand National photo gallery. In there you'll find a picture of where I put the probe on the ones I do.

hey

if u can mount it on the header thats the best place like a inch or so away from o2. i just dint want to weld the little piece to my nice poston headers :D

I thought you would be more concerned with the egt's from the leanest cylinders (typically 5 and 6) and tune to those.

Well, if you have the powerplate, then that shouldn't be an issue. All 6 cylinders should be pretty similar.

Mine was drilled 4 inches below the O2 bung on a Postons header. Much easier to drill in the car. Used a Westach probe.

Still hits 1650 on the meter.

Welding? No welding on mine:rolleyes:

I put mine on the horizontal, constant diameter portion of the passenger side manifold, just after cylinder 4. Super easy to drill, clamp, and insert the probe, connect the probe to the extension wire, route the extension wire there. No danger of burning up the probe or extension wire.

Ahead of my time...

:D

So most of you put the sensor before the turbo? Turbo tech told me to put it in the downpipe?

NO not after the turbo. Sure it'll work, but the readings will be pretty much useless. Mostly because there's a huge temperature drop across the turbine as it exctracts energy. Problem is, this temperature drop is not constant, it varies widely depending on several variables, load, rpm, etc.
Variables are bad!!
Don't know Turbo tech, but they're giving you bad advice.
