Thats cool, you can disagree. However, it was not "Misconstituted". I was Quoting Corky Bell. You might have known him from the book he wrote on Turbocharging. ;)

I put a lot of trust in what he says, and it has also been my experience. :)

Yeah, I have that book too, it just hasn't necessarily been my experience. Afterall, someone had a lot of trust in you enough for you to burn my chip! :)

Someone asked why torque and horsepower are always the same at 5,252 rpm. That's true, only if you are measuring torque in foot-pounds and power in horsepower ("HP"). Here's the formula to convert from torque to horsepower:

Power = (Torque X RPM) / 5,252 , where Power is measured in horsepower and Torque is measured in foot-pounds.

Also,

Torque = (Power X 5,252) / RPM , again where Power is measured in horsepower and Torque is measured in foot-pounds.

So, at exactly 5,252rpm, the values for torque (in foot-pounds) and power (in horsepower) will always be the same.

Clear as mud? ;)
 
Torque vs Horsepower

As Ken explained above, horsepower and torque are related by a simple formula. HP=torquexrpmxC, where C is a constant that makes all the units work out. Just so happens that if you set HP equal to torque, the rpm works out to 5252. In metric or SI units, of course, everything is different. No reason why torque can't be subtantially higher than torque, it just has to be at an rpm lower than 5252. The lower the rpm for peak torque, the bigger the "gap" between peak torque and peak power.

So that highly modded honda that makes 300hp@8000rpm's is only making 196.95lb/ft of torque at the same rpm and a whole lot less at lower rpm.

Supra's suffer a similiar fate, therefore aren't generaly any good in the 1/4 mile.
