gonna convert a hotair 85 engine to intercooled.
are the cam sensors the same? i think they are
crank sensor is diffrent right?
are any of the intake sensors interchangeable with the 86-87?
are any of the other sensors/ relays the same or diffrent?

just wondering what i can and can not use for the conversion as far as sensors go.

i know about the brackets, intakes, exhaust manifolds ,downpipes wiring etc,,, all being diffrent
but what parts are the same?

i am selling all the hotair parts i can't use if anybody needs anything.

This is a start from memory. Chime in if you have more information. Same sensors- CAM, knock, coolant(85), MAP, and O2. Different-Crank, TPS and ESC module. Brad

Also different are; IAC, MAF (I think), Coolant temp (I think).
Ok, maybe the IAC is not really a "sensor", but it is different.
You can make the 84/85 work, ;)
Oh, fuse box is also different I belief, and the trans, etc.

coolant temp same , fuse box same, map same... esc module, iac, crank sensor, tps, MAF, coilpack and module different, will need IAT sensor... let me know if you need any other info

jimmy told me the trans are the same

jimmy told me the trans are the same

There are "the same tranny" but with some internal differences, I knnow this will be specified better later on this post.

Good luck on the conversion! I may have some parts that you could use, I'll check and let you know via pm.

........ fuse box same.......

Yeah, I may be wrong, but Casperselectronics had a picture of specfic differences between the 86 and 87 (The one I can't find)
So, while the HA fuse panel will work, I think it is different, but than again, I have been wrong before. ;)

Located the pic from Casperselectronics!

That is my understanding as well. The VB for the 84 and 87 is for sure different. The trans will work fine and can be used, but it is different.

I should of said basically the the same.. (sorry dont shoot me)

I would like to know abought the wiring harness question thow.
thats what I'm working on now. I dont have a 87 harness, I was thinking of extending some of my conectors on my 85 harness

I would think the fuze block would be the same style.
bulk head connector the same

the power for the 87 style fans would come from the fuze box, I think
that would be differnt

i heard trannys were pretty much the same but the main diffrence was the servo on the side of the tranny. i already posed this question in the tranny section and bison and ck answered it.

i already have a 87 harness out of another car but i was concerned with sensors/relays and that kinda thing. thanks everybody!!!!

Hello pm'ed you about some hot air parts. also forgot to mention needing the alternator pulley, And the coolant sensor on the front of the intake with the single tab on it.
