I'm having a hard time making up my mind. I value Everyone's imput on this board and I know there are some top notch Tranny Guys on here. So here's my combo...
Ported Irons
TE45A
THDP
72#
FMIC
The car is fairly light for a Turbo Buick (NO ac, heater, ps, and many lightweight parts... and it's going to be a trailer queen.
I know squat about Auto Transmissions and even less about converters. But I do know I want a Trans Break and something that's going to put a smile on my face when I let go of that button. So what Stall rating converter? How much will the break add to my starting rpm? lock up or no? also, does anyone know or use Contenental convertors? ....help

Also, what's the best shifter for the 400 that will work decent with the stock console?

a 3200 should work good and will probably pay high dividends when used with a transbrake.chris at continental is well known for producing quality convertors and will be the man to ask if you are planning on purchasing from him.

Thanks Chris, do you have contact info. for Continental...I can't find any listings for them.

Hartline Performance sells a billet TH400 converter from Bruce Toole which they have nailed down.It works awesome with a TE45a as that was my previous combo. With that converter , a crappy track with a foot brake launch got several 10.60s-10.50s @ 129-130 / 27 PSI out of the TE45.
