I am switching to a ME very soon. I will need to invest in a EGT Gauge. Tuning to O2 readings suckw/009's. I am very new to this ME setup and I understand that it doesn't require an O2 sensor. Can I purchase an EGT gauge and probe that will go into the O2 sensor hole since I don't need it anymore? What do you guys suggest. Also any tips on the ME by some experienced guys would be appreciated. What were some problems related to this installation? Just trying to get an education on the topic before it gets here. Anything else I will need?
Also I will be selling my 009 chips if anyone is interested.

I got the archeat duel probe set up. you could make a plug for the o2 hole and then tap it with an 1/8 NPT threads for the probe. When I started tuning with the ME-R my o2s came right in, I was shocked to see them change from the norm 850-870 WOT. So the tuning with it does work. I put the probes one on the DP, and one on the DS header 10" from the cyl head. I like keeping the o2 for the scanmaster readout. Got 1557 degrees on pump gas, 18# boost, o knock.

SMC Ent sells a very nice egt kit with digital meter ph # 270-522-9376

Russ,
Is it necessary to run dual probes? I figured I could put a single probe where the O2 sensor used to be. I do not have a scanmaster. I have just been using a scan tool. I do plan on getting Direct Scan in the very near future though.

AZGN,
I am going to give SMC a call today and check out their product.

Roger,
That is a good link but a little pricey for me since I already have a boost gauge in my dash I do not have a need for the dual gauge setup. Do they sell just a single EGT gauge? I couldn't find one there.

Thanks for the replies so far I appreciate it.

other than the fact it will be rather difficult to mount it there, shouldn't be a problem replacing the 02 with the egt probe

it is very easy to drill a 1/8 hole in the manifold up pipe just opposite the 02 for the probe......

Not necessarily a sophisticated gauge, but I use a Dakota Digital and like it. I shoot for 1590s and set it to flash at 1550. I only look at it if it flashes on the top-end. If it does not flash I know I am a little "rich".
