I am currently in the process of selling my 355 so I can do a Buick motor swap.

Now I have this option to buy a 85 motor with computer and everything for $700. I could go this route or should I go ahead and get a newer motor ( 86-up ) and do this?

I am totally ingorant to this subject so any help would be appreciated.

Here is what my engine bay should look like after it is all said and done.

stick with 86-87 for the goals you have

the 84-85 are way different as fas as all external stuff on the motor and 86-87 have alot more power potential

If you are going thru all that trouble you might as well go for the 86-7 motor. No offense, hot air owners!:)
