I have an SMC kit and wanted to add an LED to my gauge pod so I wouldn't have to look down at the controller to see if it's working or not. Which wire do I hook into and what else needs to be done? Thanks.

There are 4 terminals. Two are for the pump... on those two attach a BULB not an LED. You can try an led with a current limiting resistor.. like 1k .5 watt.

HTH

The current and heat are not a concern becuase of time the system is used. And if .25 amp is a big load.. not :)

Put a 12v bulb in your power injection slot, hooked across the pump wires. Works ;)

Current factor of X10 over an LED.

Heat factor is much higher.

He's putting it in the gauge pod and wanted an LED.

Sometimes you have to read the questions....

Also an LED is a diode, what effects on the pulse width mod drive of the SMC controller? careful the spikes cuased by driving the pump dont short out that LED.

Hence why I suggested a bulb :p

Want to do an LED, open the controller up and wire it off the pressure switch.

Thanks for all the replies. I was just curious of how to go about doing this. I haven't bought any parts yet and have a few other projects to do first. I had thought about using the power injection light or, like someone posted a while back, the "fasten seatbelt" light. I like the seatbelt light better, yet the power injection light may be brighter. Decisions decisions.
