My middle aged eyes need brighter light to see fine details nowadays :( . I'm toying with the idea of an LED worklight, since my dual lamp fluorescent light is often too bulky to fit, in or prop up, in tight spots.

Anyone using LED worklights, and what's your experience or comments using them?

But Ouch! They're expensive. Cheapest I've been able to locate is :

$69 for 30 LED Ferret brand.

$124 for 60 LED Ferret brand.

And this looks neat ... a cordless rechargeable 30 LED lamp with a claimed 2.5 hr run time at full brightness:

$82

After breaking my Fluoresent bulb for the 100th time, I bought an LED light. WOW - I will never use anyother kind of light. Virtuallu indestructible and you can aim the light where you need it.

I have 2, a 12v version and a cordless version.

I know the LEDs are a little pricy but how many dollars have you spent on replacing bulbs in your old one?

I have an LED penlight which is nice because you can see in places a droplight can't fit. I also have a 5 LED "Headlight" that I put on my noggin when I am under the car, very helpful.

I keep a small 4AA LED Streamlight in my FD turnout gear. They're great as a worklight. Very bright, even flood beam, almost a blueish-white. Also, there is virtually no heat given off and no matter how far you drop it, slam it or throw it, It never blows out.
