that is good stuff, i will have to add that to my repertoire

sheew...took me 10 min to find out to spell it.

Mirror mirror on the wall who has the fairest GN of them ALL. :D

I thought I put out some stupid ones  this will end up with no winner.

I do. And before we get too enamoured with pure stock GNs with the original windshield washer fluid, let's recall some of the things these cars came with courtesy of the General that aren't so wonderful:

non-adjustable fuel pressure regulator
puny fuel injectors
cheesy fuel pump with collapsing sock and swaged pick-up
inadequate fuel pump wiring
inadequate grounds
dime store exhaust
180* thermostat
cheesy, paper thin thermostat outlet
no gauges, unless you call the factory boost and tach gauges
the world's heaviest wheels, with flaking chrome and paint
center caps that leave at a moment's notice
mediocre tires
cheesy hoses and hose clamps
a small, restrictive, poorly mounted intercooler
scammer bear motor mounts and control arm bushings
1 wire oxygen sensor
weak sister transmission
puny torque converter
buck apiece shock absorbers
missing body mounts
air box from hell
no braces
corvair turbo
non-adjustable wastegate actuator
lean-o-matic doghouse
rope seals

I could go on and on, but this is why we modify our cars. So let's not portray modded cars as "molested"...

Oh Boy I better sell quick look at this list

I have done like 3 items from this list. I would never go back to the stock FP or Hot wire.

:D

I think you hit the nail on the head here, Personally I like LOW Mile UNMOLESTED cars, there are a LOT of Great Looking cars visually, then you see the HIGH Miles (>35,000+/-), and more importantly QUESTIONABLE Rebuilts(Motor, Trans, Etc...). A lot of the show queens and rebuilds may Look good, but they won't get a Nickel over 10,000-12,000 grand TOPS!!! A friend of mine has a GN with 69,000 and is almost a Ground up Rebuild, Paint, ect., all done right, he tried to sell it for OVER 20k and was laughed at...thats just the way it goes!!

Strike,

No ones calling BASIC recipe mods Molested. Molested means 3-4 owners-
VERY Questionable Motor & Trans Rebuilds, RACED in the EARLY DAYS (Pre '94-no scan tools, External fuel pumps & Crushed regulators) on and on.....

Fair enough. I like a thoughtfully modded car myself. Nonetheless, I respect the guy who owns the mayonnaise jar GN. They're nice to look at, and make a good reference. But I just wouldn't get much pleasure staring at one in my garage, pouring sweat at the thought of the odometer ticking over.

Brian,

I got $15,000+ for my restored 86 T-type w/79,000 miles on it so that statement is not entirely true. ;)

I would take a nice higher mileage car over a low mileage car any day because I would not be afraid to drive it. The only low mileage car I would go out of my way to get if I had the $ is a GNX.

I will be driving my GN more now often since I finally got accepted at age 24 through Haggerty. It took some effort because you are suppost to be 25 to be accepted for any collerctor car insurance. They took me, after seeing my driving record & pics reciepts for the car. Now that I have an agreed value on the car I am not so afraid to drive it. :)

Ed,

Thats about right, but it took you almost a YEAR to sell it, and you got lucky, most never go over 12, maybe 13. My buddy got offers of as high as 15, and, like yours, his was TOTALLY rebuilt
including Trans by a Reputable Trans guy.

Now as you know, especially recently, VERY Low mile cars, particularly GN's, are going through the ROOF...........

Well yes & no...

Yes my car was listed for sale for 6 months, but I never put any real effort into selling it just kept TTTing the add, also I only showed the car too 2 people  The 2nd guy to look at/drive the car bought it. The only reason the 1st guy passed on the car was because his heart was set on a GN.
The cash value a restored car brings has to do with the quality of the restoration. The car will bring good money only if the work is perfect ;)

Ed,

One things for sure, yours was PERFECT no doubt!! :)

Thanks got that compliment from alot of people, then they wanted to know who did the work. When I said me they looked at me like I was crazy. Was nice getting those compliments for only being 24, well 22 when I started the resto.

Just has me wondering why your friends GN would not bring the money, if that t-type I restored was a GN I could had sold it 30 times in the amount of time I had my car for sale. The problem with my car was it was an odd ball color, you either loved it or hated it. The guy that bought it loved it because there were no other ones around like it, Wish I kept it now :(

Wait till you see the GN late summer, early fall hopefully I'll have it ready for e-town. Lots of work going into it this summer :)
