Why is there a second relay added when hotwiring the fuel pump?

Is there any reason that the high amp side of the stock relay couldn't be taken to the alternator? And take a heavy gauge wire from the relay and run it to the pump?

Thanks,

Ture you just could do that. But to me its a wasted of time.

Cool. Thanks.

Anyone else care to offer up some info?

I think it's more an idea of plug and play and a better quality relay being used than anything else. Sometimes if people don't have something really easy to just plug in they get things all messed up.
