Why is my 85 T-Type Surging & Stalling?

i have a 1985 Buick T-Type, 3.8turbo Hot air,
I've been experiencing this problem for a while now, sometimes when i start the car it would run fine, other time it will start and just start surging, idle would go up then back down to low enough it sounds like its going to shut off. also when i drive the car it does this as well, when im at stops and lights, but sometimes when im slowing down to a stop the idle would get so low it stalls out,but it dosnt do this all the time just sometimes.
So if theres anything i should start doing thats fairly simple, please let me know,
i don't know if this is a common problem, if it is please let me know,

I had the same problem, it was bad connections on the chip in the computer. I took the chip out/in a few times. Problem solved. My car is a 86T cold air. Maybe the same? I asked the same question here and that's what I got, and it worked. Before I took the computer out, I just hit the kick panel with my hand, started idling, hit it again, stalled.
