I don't understand.

As I understand it.....5 players were found guilty (of some type of NCAA violations) and have been suspended for 5 games.....but the suspension isn't effective until the first game next year....... WTF? why not the bowl game tonight? The NCAA has just shown they are a big ole bitch for the Big10 and the BCS.....and ESPN.

Someone please explain why they (the 5 guilty players) should be able to play in tonights bowl game.

They shouldnt. Its an audition for the pro's and they wont be back next year no matter what they say.

Because he NCAA did not think the suspended players believed they were committing infractions and because Ohio state did not gain any sort of competitive advantage from the infractions. Tattoo's for autographs? Big fuken deal!

SO...... they were found guilty...... and sentenced to a 5 game suspension.... period.

Criminals don't get to choose when their "time" starts do they?

$

Because it's all about the $. Just like sCam Newton. He didn't know what his daddy was doing :biggrin:

The NCAA wants that money and so does the school. If it wasn't a bcs bowl they would have been held out of the games.

No criminals do not get to choose. These were not crimes, they were meaningless rule violations. Guilty of doing something every pro does at one time or another and no one gives a chit about that.

Or howbout selling underwear and T-shirts for straight up CASH? (Michael Jordan) No one cares about that either.

I would have a different opinion if they would have not suspended them the 5 games..... but since they did...... they should have to sit out the very first game they were to play in since they were found guilty.

"Pro's" don't have to abide by the same rules that an NCAA player does.... no?

Amen.... I wonder what it has "cost" to hold up ....drag out.......etc.....that investigation?????

college scamball

If it would have been Boise state or TCU a week ago that had a player under suspicion of receiving a 1/4 pounder combo meal from some guys cousin that player would have been forced to sit out but because it's not a player from a big conference like the SEC or Big Ten. The NCAA bent the rule book to protect their revenue gains from the tv coverage of the bscs bowl game especially with big conference schools and criesman trophy winners.

I think it comes down to the descretion of the league and does the offense fit the punishment? Apparently not considering the game coming up decides careers. The first 5 games decides very little.

TV rights guys. The television stations and sponsors paid for ratings, no star players means sorry ratings. Sponsors said they would pull their $$$ if there was a dud of a game. NCAA and OSU caved and let um play, and shot everyone a load with the 5 game suspension, which will all be patsy games anyway for the most part.

What I like most was when Tressell asked the guilty parties "Are you coming back for your senior years, because if not, I will not allow you to go to New Orleans and play in the Sugar Bowl." Guess what each one said?

The ironic thing is, those same kids can now sell their Sugar Bowl gifts and there aint jack the NCAA can do about it cause they aint coming back anyway. Unless of course you believe the other lie about those players not getting their jerseys-rings etc from this game because of said infractions.

Oh well, good game anyway even if Arkansas did do their best to throw it away.

selling their big ten rings and "gold pants" awards is technically a violation

but its such a stupid petty thing..that they let them play the bowl game

America is the only place who has these gay rules about college athletes. Who gives a chit about some corny rule violation? They suspended them cause it was in the rules. The NCAA made that choice. The NCAA can also decide how and WHEN that punishment is carried out. What is the confusion?

This isnt the constitution were referring to. There is plenty of descretion and they can use or lose it anytime they want. Do you think every rule violation is punished the same way? Why anyone cares is beyond me.
