Just took the car to the track tonight. It's an '86 GN, stock everything with the exception of a Qboost controller set at 16lbs of boost, RJC power plate, Walbro340 and hotwire kit. Even the chip is stock. I wanted to get a baseline tonight and wring out any problems before I started upgrading. Anyways, here's my problem. The car launches great on the street and keeps pulling at WOT well past 100MPH. Never have a problem with idle, part throttle acceleration or WOT. I get to the track, and wait for a while, then stage with a little burnout and do a brake launch with about 5lbs of boost (this is what I do on the street). The car bogs like it's going to stall and sort of coasts for a second, then kicks in and pulls all the way to the finish line (15.1@94MPH with a 2.6 60ft). I think maybe it's getting too much fuel, as my son says it was blowing a lot of black smoke, and my 02s were in the .700-.900 range. Since my regulator isn't adjustable, I decide to leave at part throttle and see what happens. Same problem, but now it bucks for about the same distance instead of completely shutting down, then pulls like normal for the rest of the run. On the final run, I kept revving the engine to try and "purge" any extra fuel, then I waited until the first yellow light kicked in before I built boost, but again it bogged and then kicked in. What could cause this? Could my plugs be too cold? Keep in mind I waited at least 30 minutes between runs, and then did my run only a couple minutes after starting the car. Could it be my car doesn't like to do WOT after just starting and idling for a few minutes?

I did for the first run, then I accidentally unpluged my ALDL cable and didn't get any more data. I didn't get any knock, and once the car came out of the bog, it shot to 16lbs and shifted perfectly. It felt like a carbed car that doesn't have the right metering rods or the floats set right. Funy thing is, it only does this at the track. I can do hard launches all day on the street. The only difference is the car sits for a while between runs at the track, while on the street it's always warmed up. I'm thinking that since the car sits at the track, then gets started and idles for only a couple of minutes prior to the run, the stock chip is in open loop. Combine that with the cooler plugs and higher fuel pressure(237 regulator), and you have a rich condition.
