I tried different chips...same results.
No leaks from tranny or converter.
What's happening: I can drive around town starting out and the converter will lock normally.
I was on the interstate and after a while I noticed that the converter would not unlock, not even if I tapped the brake. Coming off the highway the car almost killed, lousey downshifts...still locked.
I got back up to about 50 mph and got off the road again and the converter went back to locking and unlocking normally in city driving. I could even tap the brake and it would unlock. I even used my lock up switch going uphill and it would lock up in 2nd.
Does my speed (highway) have something to do with the lockup?
A friend mentioned the VSS might have something to do with it!
Could it be something as simple as a Brake Switch getting old?
Since it's (intermittant), is there any way to test for the problem without just replacing parts.
I've pulled the kick panel a couple of times in the past week and still can't find any loose connections???
