Will A D5 Work In A?

I'm Going To Put A 83 700r4 In My 4x4 And Will The Stock D5 Out Of Our Cars Work In This Trans, I Think Its A 27 Spline?? And If It Will What Do You Think It Would Stall Out At, I Have A 406 With Vortec Heads And It A Power House,, Its About 10 1/2 Ta 1 Comp Or So, The Block Has Been Decked And The Heads Where Shaved And Ported,, Has A 800 carb RPM Intake Comp 270H Cam
Truck Has Junk 308s In It For Now, May Put Soome 342 Or 410s In It Soon,,
Sorry For All Of This BS, I Know That Its Not Relly A Turbo Buick But I Want To Put A Buick Part In It

i think your a lil low on the compression ratio unless you have dished pistons in it..

i got a 406 on the stand in the garage im building for a guy with a 66 chevy ll ss with slightly ported vortech's and rpm airgap intake...it should pull that duece around nicely..btw im using a slightly dished piston in it since im building it for pump gas only to run mid-low 11s

Heads up.

Be aware that the '83 model 700-R4 isn't likely to give you very good service, especially in a 4X4 application with a decent engine.

If it does die prematurely, do yourself a favor and procure a 1988-later core & use it. The later transmissions are much better.

i have a friend with a 86 trans am and after breaking 2 700's in it he got one out of a parts car it is early model small input shaft and it hasent broke yet...its a 5.7 tuned port motor with nos and runs 11.50's cutting 1.50 60 fts and it been in it for 2 years now

I'm Not Sure On The Comp, It Has 12cc Dish Pistons In It I Belive,
And The Block Has Been Decked Not Sure How Much, And The Heads Are Shaved 15 thos, When I Run 87 Oct Gas I Have To Retard The Timing So It Dosnt Spark Knock,, I Still Have To Put A Timing Light On It To See Where I'm At With It,, It Still Runs Dam Good,, I Pulled A 83 Chevy 4x4 Sub And It Was Like I Wasnt Pulling Anything, So I Think She Will Pull The T Just Fine

I'm Going With A 400 Turbo And A 2500 Stall, 373 Gears,, Dana 44 Front And 12 Bolt Rear,,
