TRANS-X!!!!!!! you have got to be kidding me. That crap is bad. Real bad. We would rather not work on a trans that has had that stuff in it. It ruins everything. AND, when you get that crap on your arms, it reacts with your skin and causes bad rashes. Chryslers break because of simple crap, broken snap rings, valve body warpage, diff pins coming out of the carrier, etc. Cross leaks happen but trans-killer is not the way to go. You won't find it in any trans shop because they all know how worthless it is. Some shops (and this is no joke) charge people extra if they put that crap in.

As far as Chrysler VS. GM trans, up here all the farmers (who are mostly chevy lovers) Think they can pull the worlds longest stock trailer with a 1/2 ton pickup and leave it in OD from here to Texas. We do lots of low mile 4L60Es. Guess it depends on the region.

I will agree, that some cross pins do come out of chrysler mini vans overdrives..i;ve seen maybe 3 do this, they make a retainer kit to prevent this
If you don;t like additives, don't use them, but for me, it works great, and it goes in every single chrysler we sell. and we don't get them back for trans problems....BTW 4l60E's...are in my opinion junk..we do have alot of those go bad, usually due to wear in the TCC switch valving..too bad..they use it in all most all GM trucks

i agree 100% with you . you are man that knows the trans business. you must be or have been a builder for at least 10 yrs. how close am i?

Not close at all actually. :D I am a lowly R&R man of 4 years. Started straight out of high school. Initial learning curve is VERY steep, but I pay damn close attention to everything I see and am told. I plan to be in this industry for a long time, maybe till the day I die. I spend lots of my free time researching and working on car related stuff. I am also very proud of my work (which no one ever sees). If it has been installed here (I am the only R&R man here), odds are really good that you couldn't tell it has ever been out of the car.

Gn-ing: Your business is your business, but if you are interested in looking into it any further, call around to the local tranny shops and they will tell you it is not the stuff to use. As LV GN stated, it is a seal sweller and will dry them out. It does not condition them, it is designed to make worn out seals work again for a short time, for a shadetree mechanic working on a POS that isn't worth fixing the right way. There are protectants out there designed to help working transmissions keep working longer but Trans-X isn't one of them. I personally don't believe in any of them but people say good things about the red lubeguard. My boss has me put it in the 4L60Es that we do. Does it help? I dunno, but it would be a better product to look into rather than something that tries to cover a bullet hole with a band-aid. No flames intended, we are trying to help you.

Back on topic, the GM 3.4 DOHC is also a very crappy motor. Good power but it's a PITA to work on. I'd rather own a 3.1 or 3.8 and put intake gaskets in it all the time.

Ahhhhhhh the dreaded 1870. Also the sun gear shell likes to break. Local dealer had one break on a brand new truck that they were driving home after dealer trading for it. Had like 175 miles on it! We see a lot of diff pin breakage in the winter when people get stuck and rock the vehicle. When we get done with a 604 it stays together for good. Never had a single one come back (knock on wood). We thank Gil Younger at Transgo for that. Sorry to get off topic.

while we are talking about Chrysler, why can't they buy rear end carrier and pinion bearing for their trucks and jeeps that last more than 40,000 miles?..The local auto auctions in town won't even let u arbitrate jeeps and durango's for rear end noise...they say they all have it.. we replace a ton of these bearing each year..we recently did an 02 jeep with 37k...

Don't know a thing about the rear ends of them. My "rear end" experience is minimal. I really do think that you should look into a different additive though. ANYTHING but trans-X. Or anything that claims to fix a broken trans.
