I'm looking for a factory non-EQ radio with a KNOWN WORKING cassette player. Needed ASAP.

Here's the story:

I have a customer with a bunch of cassette tapes he listens to, as well as an Ipod converter that is cassette based. The one in his car is broken, and I've now sent him two others from board members who said their's worked, but didn't. All of them exhibit the same issue: The tape, once inserted, simply clicks back and forth and will not engage and play.

We've tried all kinds of cassette tapes to ensure it wasn't a bad tape. I've taken one apart to see if I could fix it, but to no avail.

So, I am once again looking for a factory non-eq radio in which you KNOW WITH CERTAINTY that the tape player works. I would prefer a factory unit to keep the original look and feel to the interior, but will also consider non-factory units that fit the original size dash opening with a tape player that you no longer need--so long as the thing works.

Please don't respond with a radio where you have no idea if the tape player works. This is going to a good customer of mine, and I don't want to be embarrassed with another radio that doesn't function properly. If it's not been recently tested/used, I'm not interested. Otherwise, have Paypal, ready to buy.

easy fix

I used to service factory GM cassette stereos in the electronics repair shop I worked for. The problem you are describing is very common ....... the drive belt is either stretched (causing slippage) or broken. Put in a new correct size belt and your problem should be fixed. The belt should be available at a Radio Shack or other electronics parts store. I may still have some of 'em around (because it was such a common problem). Let me know if you need one. Hope this helps.

I have a MINT unit with EQ that at most could use a cleaning with one of the tape head cleaners. I have a static removal tool to plug in & remove any staic I will run over it with. You dont want/need the EQ but the machine Works 100% Guaranteed!
PM me a "good offer" if you need it?
I wasnt looking to sell but you never know?
Cheers!

I can find one for you, I'm out at wrecking yards every weekend. There are dozens of LeSabers out there that have the exact same unit you are looking for. I can find some units from low mileage cars, pick up one and test it on my GN. Does the car have power antenna? I've noticed that the cars with power antenna have a push button power button and ones with fixed antenna turn on with the volume control....Just let me know.
