XBox help needed

I'm about to by an XBox for my girlfriend, and I need some opinions from you fellas who mod them. I modded one a couple of years ago, but things change and I know there are new chips out now.

- Which chip is the best / easiest to install? I know there are ones out now that require very few soldered connections, so let me know. Also, is there anything to look for when purchasing the console that will let me know if it can be modded or not? When I did the last one, there were some versions of the XBox BIOS that couldn't take the mod chip.

well i think that you are going to like some of the info i am about to pass on....

there really isnt a xbox out there right now that can not be modded it just depends on wheather its a 1.1 or 1.2 (i think that they are the right version numbers not sure tough) then do some hunting around on www.xbox-scene.com and look for where to dl the "slayer cd" this will make you life alot easyier (if you cant find it our dont have a dvd burner i can probely get you a copy) then also pick up a hard drive at the same time ( they have bigger BOIS now that will allow up to a 200 gig last time i looked) and then just dl on of the iso creater/ftp programs and dl the games off line and send them to your xbox you dont even have to rent them anymore lol
