Yet another Trans+ question

Couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. My question is does the spark wires HAVE to be hooked up even if I don't plan on using that feature at the moment? I have everything set to stock and have the base maf set on 3 everything else is set on 0 beings I still have no scanmaster or anything else to tune with (still keep finding other issues). I also was wondering what the plug is used for with the black wire that is looped??

it will work just like a reg. one without hooking them up.

If you would hook up the Spark advance on the trans+, the loop connector allows you to unplug the Trans+ from the spark connection and insert the loop connector so you still have a spark signal.

Ok, but it seems kinda pointless, doesn't it? Is that just incase the trans fails?
